Caste system

The caste system exists in every society but just that it is not named as such.

Every society has it's class of philosophers, teachers, intellectuals or Brahmins, the military and administrative class or the ksatriyas, the farmers and merchants or vaishyas and the workers and labours or the sudras.

It is naturally present in every society and it is based on a person's qualification(guna) and work(karma) and classes are needed for a society to function properly.

Here is what the Bhagavad Gita explains @ http://vedabase.net/bg/4/13/en2

Chapter 4: Transcendental Knowledge verse 13
catur-varnyam maya srstam

guna-karma-vibhagasah

tasya kartaram api mam

viddhy akartaram avyayam

SYNONYMS

catuh-varnyam -- the four divisions of human society; maya -- by Me; srstam -- created; guna -- of quality; karma -- and work; vibhagasah -- in terms of division; tasya -- of that; kartaram -- the father; api -- although; mam -- Me; viddhi -- you may know; akartaram -- as the nondoer; avyayam -- unchangeable.

TRANSLATION
According to the three modes of material nature and the work associated with them, the four divisions of human society are created by Me. And although I am the creator of this system, you should know that I am yet the non doer, being unchangeable.

So as per the Gita the division is based on a person's qualification(guna) and work(karma).

The son of a professor or a doctor has all facility to become a professor or a doctor. But that does not mean he automatically has become a professor or a doctor. He has to have the necessary qualification(guna) and work(karma). How difficult is that to understand ?

The only problem happens when one thinks that one's varna is based on one's janma or birth, or that one class is better than the other.

Also just having only a certain class of people in exclusion to other classes will also not work, for example, if all people in a society became teachers, who will grow food ?

Actually all over the world we see that many persons are fanning their own false pride.

They do this by stating his/her family, tribe, caste, state, country, religion and ultimately his/her God is better any everyone else and that salvation only belongs to him/her.

They do not understand that this is only their own false pride and is no better than a child stating that his/her toy is the best.

As per the Bhagavad Gita one who is actually a Brahmin is like this @ http://vedabase.net/bg/5/18/en2

Chapter 5: Karma-yoga -- Action in Krsna Consciousness
vidya-vinaya-sampanne

brahmane gavi hastini

suni caiva sva-pake ca

panditah sama-darsinah

SYNONYMS

vidya -- with education; vinaya -- and gentleness; sampanne -- fully equipped; brahmane -- in the brahmana; gavi -- in the cow; hastini -- in the elephant; suni -- in the dog; ca -- and; eva -- certainly; sva-pake -- in the dog-eater (the outcaste); ca -- respectively; panditah -- those who are wise; sama-darsinah -- who see with equal vision.

TRANSLATION
The humble sages, by virtue of true knowledge, see with equal vision a learned and gentle brahmana, a cow, an elephant, a dog and a dog-eater [outcaste].
